STUDIO GUIDELINES

EVERYONE IS WELCOME
TO LEARN AND DANCE

Some restrictions:

Our classes are for adults only (18 years and older). For insurance purposes, children are not allowed in the studio or unattended in the building We are not equipped to provide childcare safely. Guests, friends, or family are allowed to stay in the studio during class unless they are paying students.
BE ON TIME
Please ensure you arrive 10-15 minutes early and are prepared for the class to begin on time. Once the class commences, the doors will be locked to minimize disruptions. It is important to show respect to your instructor and fellow classmates by avoiding arriving late. In the event that you are running late, please reach out to me (text is fine) at 719-216-9951 as soon as possible before the class starts. I understand that unexpected situations can arise. However, the full class fee will still apply, regardless of the time attended. Missed prepaid sessions cannot be made up.

BE PRESENT
Being intoxicated in class is not allowed, and you will be asked to leave without a refund if caught under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.

BE COURTEOUS
If you have problems with a classmate, let me know.- Negative or intimidating behavior means immediate dismissal with no refund.- It's rude to talk while the instructor is teaching. Disturbers will be asked to leave without a refund.- No unauthorized selling or promotion is allowed.- Recording without permission means leaving without a refund - no exceptions.

BE YOUR BEST SELF
Engage fully in each class, take detailed notes, and attend consistently for optimal learning. Mastery of FCBD® Style requires a commitment to vocabulary, cues, and finger cymbals. Remember, finger cymbals are vital, and refunds are not available if you choose to opt out. Your dedication will significantly influence your learning journey. Don't hesitate to ask questions and seek clarification from your instructor.

BE PATIENT
When you're ready, I'll guide you to the next stage. Remember, learning isn't a competition. Everyone progresses at their own pace. Even the top students benefit from revisiting the fundamentals. Joining a beginner class doesn't define your identity as a dancer. My goal is to teach you to dance first. Once you demonstrate proficiency in level 1 (Classic FCBD® Style) and level 2 (Modern FCBD® Style) moves, you'll advance to performance training. This includes mastering movement names, understanding cues, and confidently executing moves and cues while playing finger cymbals. Embrace the journey of learning and growth.

WHAT TO WEAR

  •  Please wear a full skirt, pantaloons, loose pants, or yoga pants, along with a hip scarf and a short top, choli top, or leotard. It's important to choose something comfortable.
  •  Avoid wearing a jingly or noisy hip scarf, as it can be distracting during class.
  •  Only bare feet or dance shoes are permitted in the dance studio. Black ballet slippers by BLOCH are an excellent choice and are available at Assemble' Dancewear 719-596-8443 or on Amazon.
  •  Investing in a quality pair of zils (finger cymbals) is essential, just like any musical instrument. You can purchase brass Afghani zils for $70 online, or you may bring your own.
  •  I also recommend bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated.
  •  Please wear your hair up (in a ponytail or bun) so that I can see your posture.
  • Lastly, please do not chew gum in class.
